A little history lesson.
In Ezekiel 38, there were a number of confusing names, I'll try to give a few pointers as to who and where they are talking.

Magog-region of Gog
Rosh-head, chief
Meshech-tall
Tubal-
Gog-mountain
Persia-
Ethiopia-burnt face(Cush)
Libya-
Gomer-completion
Togarmah-
The first place to start is in Genesis 10, the Tablet of the Nations, which by the way has been proven to be quite accurate by historical and archeological proofs.

Japheth, the son of Noah, was the father of; Gomer, Magog, Tubal, Meshech and 2 other sons.
Gomer was the father of; Ashkenaz and Togarmah-These are the peoples of the germanic areas of Europe.
The sons and grandsons of Japheth became the heads of the European families-tribes-nations.

These also included; Turkey, the Caucasus, Scythians. These tribes over time traveled north and west, except for the sons of Madai, who became the Medes, and the sons of Javan who were the Greeks. Everyone seeing a pattern here?

Traditionally, Gog, Meshech, Rosh and Tubal were considered of the Russian and Caucasus areas.
Persia traditionally, and historically included; Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan.
